Technology Mission Statement
To enable our students to envision and implement technologies for the purpose of improving student achievement with spiritual and academic direction built on the Word of God in an environment that will lead our students to maturity in Christ and prepare them to meet the challenges of the future
As Technology Grows, so does our Department.Covenant Academy is venturing on an enterprising plan to address the challenging and diverse needs of students in the twenty-first century. The effective use of technology is an integral component of this plan. We are committed to developing an educational environment that offers the maximum opportunity for all students to learn and become productive members of the community. Our vision includes students access to well-prepared teaching professionals and schools with appropriate instructional resources in every learning environment.
We are committed to a plan that is constantly evolving as technology improves. We believe the computer should be used as a tool in the classroom and that it is essential and accessible to all students. We believe that their personal and professional lives will demand a high level of comfort with technology in order to excel as adults.
The key to implementing effective use of technology is staff development. The primary purpose of staff development is to help build awareness among staff of the possibilities, and advantages of using technology in the school setting. We are approaching educational change - our focus needs to shift in instructional methods to reflect the challenges that our students will face tomorrow. We must replace today's methods with innovative educational experiences. We must allow our students to practice what they will be using when they graduate from our schools.
Technology Foundation Standards for All Students
The technology foundation standards for students are divided into six broad categories. Standards within each category are to be introduced, reinforced, and mastered by students. These categories provide a framework for linking performance indicators within the Profiles for Technology Literate Students to the standards. Teachers can use these standards and profiles as guidelines for planning technology-based activities in which students achieve success in learning, communication, and life skills.
